History of Volvo Car:
Volvo means "I roll" is a Latin word and was born in 1927, recently after the first car "Jakob" left the factory in Sweden. The company was founded by Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larssonon.
The fledgling company produced both closed top and cabriolet models to better withstand the harsh Swedish climateof with their new four-cylinder OV4 and PV4 models. those have the Swedish symbol for iron attached to a diagonal piece if metal on the front grille. In 1929 a longer and wider than the Jakob model with a six-cylinder PV651 model had introduced. It got a huge success and which helped the company to purchase its engine supplier as wel as they bought their first factory.
In 1932 the first production milestone of 10,000 Volvo’s was reached and after that the dealers were asking to produce more inexpensive cars. Then the creation of the PV 51 model of 1936, similar to the more expensive PV36 in design, but smaller in size and less well equipped was came into the existance.
Volvo's very first small car which is having a very stylish design with European size got an instant success. The PV444 and the PV544 would dominate Volvo production in the middle of 1960 as well as able to gain Volvo a slice of the important US market.
Volvo 120 introduced in 1956 and often called the Amazon is also one of the popular model of Volvo cars. Main key factor for its success are the safety features and accident protection. It was again enhanced in 1959 when both the Amazon and PV544 were equipped with three-point safety belts.
Very first Sport's car of volvo was the P1800, introduced in 1960. The Volvo 240 range replaced the 140 with more safety and quality and along with it the smaller Volvo 340 models from Holland introduced by the end of the 1970. The Volvo 700 series took step into the exclusive market for personalised high-quality cars in 1982. In 1991 a totaly different Volvo was launched. The very first front wheel drive executive car was Volvo 850 and it has a transverse, five-cylinder engine. It got many awards for it's level of safety combined with real driving pleasure.
