Volvo 122 Introduction
The Volvo 122 introduced in October, 1956 with the design inspired by 1950-style American cars such as the Chrysler New Yorker saloon and the Chrysler 300C hardtop Coupe.
It was known as a reliable car as compared to other Volvo models and nearly 15,000 of the 35,000 models sold are being used by peoples now a days also. Many of the Britain people use this as the everyday cars. This scar is named as the Volvo Amazon in Sweden, but sold in other countries as the Volvo 122.
In 1958 the Volvo 122 were introduced with a B18B engine with twin SU carburetors, four-speed gearbox and 85bEp and the very first imported to the UK. The 122S was introduced, equipped with a dual carburetor 85 bhp engine in 1959 as the performance model.
This car has a twin carburetor with engine types B16B, Bb18B, B18D or B20B and was utilized on body types P130, P120 and P220. Later in 1961, the Volvo 122 was fitted with a new engine fitted B18. This car received an up-rated front suspension and the powerful engine was fitted with front disc brakes.
In 1963 built the 100,000th Volvo 122 car. In 1970 production of the Volvo 122 totally ended, till that day the 667,791 units were produced. Sooner or later these Volvo 122 cars were replaced by the Volvo 140 cars. These are cars which earned a name for endurance and longevity.
