Volvo OV4 Introduction
OV4 means "Open Vagn 4 cylindrar" inspired by a by Swedish word. The model OV4 was also known as Jakob but that was just a name for one of the 10 pre-series OV4. The car was totally assembled in Stockholm at the company AB Galco, Halsingegatan 41. Out of them the 10 pre-series cars manufactured was saved for the history and now belongs to Volvo Industrial Museum.
Volvo OV4 is the very first car built by Volvo. The engine of OV4 Volvo car was designed by Gustav Larson. In Gothenburg officially 10 pm on the 14th April 1927 The series version of OV4 was introduced. In the period between 1927 to 1929, 996 cars were manufactured totally.
The first OV4 was driven out of the factory in reverse because the differential gear in the rear axle, been fitted wrong. The mistake was immediately crosschecked and corrected and remaining vehicles left the factory properly, only with the one day delay.
