Volvo PV4 Introduction
In 1927 the very first saloon by the Volvo Company is the PV4 car produced. In it some minor aesthetic modifications appeared in 1928 and also in 1929 while producing these vehicles the Weymann principle is followed. Instead of steel, they had an insulated wooden frame and clothed in fabric.
Alos the interior of the car is very different and versatile, as the seats arrangement is transferred to bed for two. Also the power coming from 118 cubic-inch four-cylinder engine with side valves that was capable of producing 30 horsepower.
There was a three-speed manual gearbox with direct-action floor lever controls. The top speed of this car was around 55 mph with comfortable cruising speeds at about 40 mph. The brakes provided was by mechanical drums in the rear, afterwards in 1928, four-wheel brakes were offered as optional equipment.
