Volvo PV is a referral to two similar models namely PV444 and PV544. Actually Volvo PV544 is not a complete new designed car but it is the new version of PV444 after its retirement. The main differences in these two cars are the 444 was available with larger windows that went all around the vehicle, with a curved one-piece windshield that replaced the two panes of flat glass.

The car interior updated by changing padded dashboard with a ribbon type speedometer as well as safety steering wheel provided. The back seat was modified to seat 3 persons and the rear lights were much bigger. The handbrake lever mounted between the seats was placed in a much convenient area.

The 544A the most produced PV from 1950 manufactured in four versions in the Swedish automotive market, the 54403 Standard, 54404 Special II, 54405 Special I and the 54406 Sport. Similar to this model PV 544 B was produced from 1960 in 34600 ex. and this model with new sides in the back-seat. The PV544 C came in the three different models Favorite, Special and Sport models.

The Volvo PV 544 D was released with least changes and the exception of new hubcaps with a red circular area in the middle with a V inside that area. The Volvo PV E model was having non-reusable air-filter, and new valve-cap with the oil-cap placed in the front. The PV 544 F with silver-colored wheels with oval cooling-holes was built in 17300 ex.
