Volvo TP21 Introduction
TP21 was 'TerrangPersonbil' Swedish word and which takes some letters from word Radiopersonterrangbil 915 ['Radio car off-road 915'] and thus TP21 name came into existence. It was produced during the years 1953-1958.
In 1950 the Volvo manufacturer produced a car for the Swedish Defense Forces is the model TP21. It is then after well-known as the 'Sow' and the only reason for such name is its rear end. Very first use of the TP21 was for radio communications and its high-base antenna that either standable or could be placed in a holder at front side of the car.
This model is basically based on a light truck frame and body style is as much similar as PV830 taxi, but the overall shape is shortened for improving the off-road mobility. The shortened wheelbase, large terrain tires and high ground clearance added effective enhancement and useful in the off-road conditions.
